Collection: Romantic Brutalism 2025
Romantic Brutalism’ by Christophe Domergue (2025 Archiabld Finalist) is a special collection of recent works completed in 2025.
This collection was created mainly from his ‘peelings’ of Sydney's iconic Carriageworks in Redfern.
The performative work is a collision of finding inspiring locations, creating a ‘found object’ reminiscent of the Arte Povera movement, and the curated layering of it all through his process that is created outside the studio, onsite like a plein air painter.
The finished works have some sense of a Romantic Landscape contrasted against a Brutalistist Architectural concrete element that floats lightly on a wall.
